What Is Asphalt Crack Sealing?
All of us have driven through an old and worn out road or parking lot full of cracks and potholes. Asphalt crack sealer is an effective and affordable solution for repairing cracks that form in asphalt from fluctuations in temperature.

What Is Asphalt Crack Sealing?

In the long run, this moisture compromises the asphalt leading to much greater issues beyond cracks. An asphalt crack sealer provides protection from long-term water and chemical damage that can compromise the asphalt while prolonging the life of the asphalt and lowering future repaving costs.
The Asphalt Crack Sealing Process
The process of asphalt crack sealing is straightforward and affordable in the long run. First, the asphalt contractors will blast out all the accumulated debris from the cracks. This allows the sealing material used to better adhere to the asphalt.
Following the removal of the debris from the cracks, a sealing rubber material is applied to the asphalt cracks while a rubber blade tool is used to form a watertight seal. In some cases, the cracking in the asphalt has become extensive and forms what is called “Alligator Cracking”.
This form of asphalt cracking allows a large amount of water to pour into the subbase of the asphalt from moisture and rain. When large amounts of water are allowed to pour freely into the asphalt subbase it causes the subbase to become compromised.
This is a far more serious issue that cannot easily be fixed using a standard asphalt crack sealer. This is why it is extremely important to address the issue of asphalt cracking quickly to prevent costly repairs in the long run.
